[LRflex] Re: IMG: Yesterday's bird.

Hi Doug,
thanks for commenting and suggesting.

Your identification is correct - thanks for confirming mine with details.

Getting closer would have meant falling off the roof in that instance
(LoL) but I'll try and keep this in mind - I had forgotten the extender
at home anyway and 70 x 3 x 2 (sensor crop factor) is indeed a bit short
for small birds.

Larger Aperture : I know the background may be distracting for bird
photography. I also know my zoom lens fares better in terms of quality
when I close down to 5.6 or 8, which I did here.

In conclusion I was reaching the limits - both physical and technical -
of my gear and of my know-how.

Nevertheless ,I thought that even if it wasn't superior bird
photography, it had a quality rarely observed in wild-life shots i.e. a
3-D looks. I mean, just look at the bird and rock gently sideways while
watching, the "grey" of the bird remains "stable", while the bokeh in
the foliage seems to shine and glisten as if under a breeze, which sets
the bird out, ready for take-off.

Taking shots and showing them is also part of learning , so thanks Doug
for your kind advice and sharing of experience which will help me
improve on my technique and eye.

Have a good week.l

Yours
Phil...x
