FYI: the photo I posted is a crop , a severe one in fact - as I was surprised by the "quality" of my dirt cheap new Oly zoom which I was then testing Shot with the L1 at more than 250mm - which in 35mm terms means a mighty 500 - and from a distance of about 8 to 10 meters/yards. Handheld.
Oly lenses have been, for decades, one of the most underrated lens lines, around. Their basic consumer lenses, which includes your 70~300 lens, are stunningly good image cutters, even if built to a "consumer" standard. I now have two of their "pro" line lenses - the 12~60/f2.8~f4 and the 50~200/f2.8~f3.5 SWD lenses. In limited use, for just a couple of weeks, I have been absolutely amazed at their quality, equaling anything I've owned in the Leica line.
The full picture is now sitting next to the crop at : <http://tinyurl.com/38zp27>http://tinyurl.com/38zp27 for you to make yourself an opinion.Developed in Lightroom, but not sharpened from what I remember. No PS inside either.
Your shot is gorgeous; and the subtle detail, at such a severe crop is amazing. A credit to the lens, and the photographer.
