Hi Brendan
I don't know of people using R glass on Sony bodies - I don't kow if
there's an adaptor either - better check on Ebay for instance.
The 5D has been used by people I know - not a very convincing experience
from what I understand as if you want to go FF in order to use WA
lenses, the 5D seems disappointing and may also have mirror clearance
issues.
Also, it seems that Canons have an issue with metering the light when
you close down.
The best we've heard so far is the D700, using a replacement mount, but
here again you lose of course all aperture control, and you're back to
the 60s with real aperture focusing and shooting. which can be fun - I
use my Rs on a 4/3 and don't suffer much - but also tedious and slow,
depending on the circumstances.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Philippe

I know that some members of this forum are using their Leica R lenses
on other digital bodies, either by modifying the mounts or using adaptors.
I find myself at a cross road and would like some advice, I am about
to upgrade my digital camera and get a full frame digital, I currently
have a Nikon D70 but the current Nikon full frame cameras are a bit
too expensive at present. My son hopes to get the D70 and lenses so I
will be starting from scratch as it were.
What full frame digital body would people recommend? It is to be used
with Leica R lenses via an adaptor (so I can still use the lenses on
my R6.2) I am considering either a Canon 5D or a Sony A700.
Has anyone any thoughts on these? I am interested in landscapes,
macros and wildlife photography.
Regards
Brendan
