So surprising you could do that with such a long tele: 400mmx2 is 800mm and probably f8 at fastest.

Actually, the combination is f13, wide open! Definitely a 'sunny day' lens - even with ISO 400!

Were you a first class shooter in your army days?

Nope. I've never shot a gun in my life. Never been in the Army, either.

The #14188 shoulder stock is remarkably well designed. If used with care it can result in some amazing shots. However, there are a lot of "almost good" shots, too! :(

My biggest problem is that as I squeeze the trigger, my mind tells me that I've done the job and I start to drop the front of the lens, just a bit. The result is blurred photos. :( I'm working on that!

All of these were done with a standard cable release, in a modified (maple) custom hand-grip.

Yesterday, I experimented with an electric release ((#14254) borrowed from Ted Grant. It seems to be smoother and quicker to use than the cable release. However, the shots were of sailing boats, taken from a power boat. With both bobbing about in the open ocean, it will be interesting to see what turns out!

I say, it's a good one!

Thanks. :)
