Hi Ed. I use the cheapest converter I could find with the focus confirmation chip and it works as good as expected. If you plan on using Leica lenses only, just leave it on the camera and mount and dismount your leica lens from the converter. If you plan on mixing lenses, I would recommend an adapter for each lens.

Also, you need to get the Nikon (yes, Nikon) DK-21M eyepiece magnifier. It fits the EOS cameras and makes manual focusing much easier, which is helpful even with the focus confirmation chip. A must have for under $25.

Hi Ed!

I, too, use a cheap & cheerful AF confirmation adapter.

And, I second the use of the DK-21M. (Be careful not to buy the DK21, which is a rubber eyecup, which does not magnify the finder image.) One tiny flaw with the DK-21M is that it does not "snap" into place, as it would on a Nikon. The small springy protrusions would snap into detents, on a Nikon, to hold it in place. On the Canon, such detents are in a different spot. Thus, you need to take the DK-21M off, when not in use. Not doing so cost me the loss of my first one.

I am working on a mod, for the Canon, and will post it here, if successful.

Cheers!
