Folks
I read with some interest the comments from Ted and others about
the latest offerings from Steve B. I got to thinking, in the light
of some other unrelated events. The comments that caused me to
start thinking were:
Sorry if this sounds a bit maudlin, but I felt I had to make the
point.
Cheers

Keith,
I would say W. Eugene Smith did.
For sure realism has gone out of fashion in the mass media.
The most marketable idea of personal tragedy seems to be the latest
teen star in rehab, at least in the US. I would say it isn't
the case everywhere.
Have a look at the 2007 World Press Photo album in print.
They aren't all great photos, but many of them are moving, and they
were all shot last year. Photojournalism isn't dead by any means.
There will always be people who shrink away from pain in
art. It doesn't mean artists will stop creating, and connecting.
