[LRFlex] Re: Further speculation on the R-10D - sorry David

Hi Douglas!

Sorry to contradict your very interesting information David, but

Yes, I am sorry too. I had been given this information over the course of the last several months, from several sources... and so didn't doubt it. Besides, it is the only information which made Leica's path seem reasonable.

The Digi-back may still help sell the backlog of R9s, but it does put the proposition of the R-10D in a different perspective. If they can sell "enough" to put money back into the pot, they may recover, financially. But, will we ever see another R camera - digi or film?

I have no doubt of your information. Still, it's rather sad to see a firm with the stature of Leica, go down the drain due to mismanagement. However, should it happen, it won't be the first. Their new CO may do better, but he will need time and funding. Leica seems not to have a lot of either. :(

Gosh, y'know the thought of this group turning into the Exakta group - extolling the virtues of an extinct camera is not entirely appealing.

The quality of Digital may one day equal film, and the storage problems may be solved, but I still like film, and will continue to use it so long as it is available. Hell, the Exakta guys are still getting a lot of fun out of their IVb's!

The Leica Historical Society of America is going through a huge internal debate about whether to eliminate the word "historical" from their name. If Leica continue as they are, the word may become more significant than we think!

Thanks, for your corrections.

Best,

David.
