[LRFlex] Re: Fill Flash Technique?

Hi David,
You might try with a slower shutter speed depending on the length of lens you have on the camera - 1/30 for a 28mm lens, 1/60 for a 50mm lens, 1/100 for a 90 - in order to get more ambient light on the film. The R9 chooses shutter speeds like this when you are using ROM lenses, rather than defaulting to 1/250 as the R8 does when you add a TTL flash to the camera. Sorry to be missing the LHSA spring shoot in old Victoria,
Cheers

Thanks Howard!

What a dandy idea!

If I understand you correctly, you're saying to set the f-stop appropriate for the shutter speed, as suggested by the meter, but still set the auto flash to the level appropriate for the x-sync speed. Thus getting a lower ratio of fill-flash, whilst still filling in the shadows. Right?

As for the Spring Shoot, I had hoped that somehow both you and Joseph might have been able to make it. (Tomorrow, Alex arrives, from Ireland, for the 'Shoot'!) Perhaps next time...

Nevertheless, we are full to capacity... the best attended Spring Shoot ever! (I'm feeling quite chuffed!)

BTW: I'm getting a lot of use out of your Winder-R8, now that I have the 400/6.8. It makes a perfect combination with the shoulder stock & a cable release! :)

Thanks again, for all!

Best regards,

David.
