We have said exactly the same thing, using different words; there is no
magnifcation factor, and thus only the coverage of the sensor changes. I
was addressing your notion of "apparent FL", which for users of a
particular format -- 35mm in the Leica stream of things -- implies a
magnification factor with a change in FL. Some even make statements such
as "a 50mm lens becomes a 100mm lens" on a smaller sensor, which it does
not in either the true meaning of FL or the implied magnification factor.

The amount of discussion here around the best-suited terminology to
address the field or angle of view suggests that there is something to
consider, no?

Best regards,

Neil
