David, I think you misread my post, or maybe, and very likely I was
being Fuzzy again ;-) ; what I meant was reflexion on the metallic
parts of the camera you were shooting, not inside your lens..
BTW: did Rose wear glasses on the shot you referrred to? I don't
remember her wearing any, but just in case.
Good Morning, Philippe!
No, this is not a reflection of metal parts, inside or outside the
lens. Of this, I am now sure. It is always the same blue, and
always round, always in the exact center of the frame. And the blue
very closely matches the coating colour of the lens!
What I am not exactly clear about is this. Does the light bounce off
the shiny sensor surface, only to be reflected back to the sensor by
the round rear element? Or does the reflected light go further into
the lens before being reflected back again? Either way, it is a most
annoying problem ... though, in outdoor use, it has only happened
perhaps 3 or 4 times in 10,000+ photos. When it started to turn up
in every close up shot, on Saturday, I quickly became very frustrated!
Oh, yes, Rose does wear glasses, but when you see the shot of her on
the Eiffel Tower, you will see that no reflection from glasses could
cause this sort of problem.. I will post it, as soon as my ISP gets
their act together. Today, cannot upload anything, and eventually
get a notice that they are "working on their servers". So, perhaps tomorrow.
Cheers!
