overlap a lot. With a tripod you can be much more precise.

I am impressed that you can get such a successful pano out of 5 hand
held shots which are almost randomly aligned.
I know that Howard Cummer uses a fairly inexpensive gizmo to hold the
lens exactly over the nodal point, so that when you rotate the
camera, the perspective stays the same. But, for what you're doing,
the results are absolutely amazing!
I must investigate this PTA Assembler!
