[LRflex] Answering the questions about the Pen Lake Pano taken with the now Kaput M8

Dear David and Philippe,
In answer to your questions the Pano is made up of three frames taken with the Tri Elmar set at the 28mm setting. The camera was on a tripod and manual exposure was used. I don't remember the aperture but the EXIF data gives ISO 640, shutter speed 1/250, manual exposure. I panned from left to right and made sure that the succeeding frame overlapped quite a bit with the preceding frame. The exposure of the first frame was kept the same for the following frames. The frames were shot in RAW and developed in CS2. To assemble the Pano using CS2 go File, Automate, Photo-merge, download the files required and click okay to have the program attempt to assemble them. If it doesn't work you may have to do it manually. The M8 is really good for this kind of work. First, especially with coded lenses and IR cut filters in place, there is virtually no light fall off at the edges. This makes it easier to stitch the photos together without having darker panels between the photos. Second, the viewfinder is very clear and makes it easy to position the camera to ensure adequate over lap. Third, you can set the camera to manual exposure to maintain consistency from frame to frame. After the stitching is assembled then the Pano is tweaked in CS2 for brightness and contrast and a dash of Smart Sharpen is added. It is very easy if you shoot in manual and allow sufficient overlap. I guess at it. I don't (yet) have a specialized Pano head. Switching topics - on the M8 front Schmidt has lent me an M8 so I am back on the street taking pictures. They say I can keep it until my new M8 turns up which will likely be early next week - all going well (as they say in shipping circles).
Life is good.
Cheers
Howard. ------
