Hello To all Thanks for pointing this interview to the list. In fact, personnally, I have not much time to roam all the forum to find something. Really, I appreciate your message. We have 3 or 4 new subscribers today... They might be Who-we-should-not-say-the-name :) After I had the Olympus E3 in my hands and looked thru the viewfinder, I got pretty sure Mr LEE quitted the company with some "traitor accusation". But hey, Mr Olympus Four-Thirds is probably reading forum as well:) Now, it's no use for Leica to produce te E3. I'm pretty sure it is worth to produce some nice lenses for the four third. I have seen that you can buy the lens of the Digilux 3 from Ebay without the body. To tell you the truth, I would like to have a E3 but retain the Leica Lens. Only, the mechanical design of the E3 makes redundant the aperture ring. Grrrr. To my eye, the desing of the Digilux 3, looking like a Genetic Modified Organism of a Range finder is absolutely gorgeous as it looks as not other camera. Another design I like is the Gigantic Mamiya Digital Camera (23M pixels) with the Big pentaprism on top. In a system point of view, I believe that Autofocus is a base but I think that being able to customize a profile for a specific lens. It would be appreciated in the next SLR camera. No other brand is offering this feature. Are we looking back? No, just these info are normally transmitted through the flange in the new designed lenses, that's all. Just a note for the new Compact Leica Digital (CLD in short), if they had not the idea already, it is to build a camera based on the current Kodak Sensor for the M8 but with a large screen (around 3 inches) at the back. No need of the IR bar code reader, the user selects among a list the lens put on. Of course, the 28mm is a base, and choosen among the latest affordable lens by Leica (Summarit). Range finder or not? Better is to build an electronic range finder based on the application of the DISTA product (you know these products used by architects to record the measurements of a room/ buildings). The camera beeps when the distance is all right. Of course, they will sell external view finders (as for Ricoh or Sigma latest products) to match the lns. Imagine, you move the tab of your 'Cron and the system beeps for accuracy, you take the picture.... Now, if for the compact camera, there are profiles for the lens made in 1952, it will be a success. Even Voigtlander can compete there, offering profile for the latest lenses.. Not to mention the guys on forum exchanging the profile of the Nikon LTM 28/F3.5 made between the year of the great Orange and the Year of the Maple tree that gives diabet :) I see now that my post is long and probably useless. Please apologies. You see, I design part of the Fast train between Brussels and Amsterdam, therefore, I tend to have some strange ideas about what could be the products. What I formulate here is very dfficult to achieve in a technical point of view for many reasons. But it vould be fun to work on the project, even in Germany...---------------------------------Xavier F.
