Dear Doug, I really enjoyed your pictures. You did very well keeping those
lines from converging. I was surprised at the few people on some pictures as I
was there in June this year for the wedding of my niece. Then I read the
temperature. I love all the Hanseatic League locations with my favorite being
Bergen, Norway. My major reason for not moving there tomorrow is the lack of
mountains. Not a one in hundreds of kms. I guess I will stay in Korea, we have
more than enough!! I plan to start sharing some with the list soon. Sincerely,
George

Subject: [LRflex] An ice-cold stroll around Bremen last Sunday
Sunday we were invited to a New Year reception staged by the Bremen
ournalists Club and the Merchants Guild of 1801.
he walk from the station past the mill (go back one shot, and you can
ee what it looks like in good weather at around the same time last year)

across the cathedral square,

past the town hall

and into the Schnoor, the oldest part of the city, with some wonderful shops

A very entertaining show, too. Germany's leading political columunist
Heribert Prantl) and the secretary of state of Bremen's parliament in a
adio chat with our old friend Theo Schlüter - with breaks filled very
rofessionally by the local amateur barbershop group "Fishermans Fresh"
who are actually more of a madrigal choir)

Bremen is a great place, you can sit around, have a hot Grog and chat
ith senators (that's what they call ministers in the city states of
remen, and Hamburg) and there's never a shifty-looking security bloke
o be seen.
Hamburg and Lübeck are similar, must be something to do with their
anseatic heritage.
Sunday was also the first time I've ever had aperture blades sticking
nd Canon electronics refusing to work because of the cold.
Cheers
ouglas
