Sorry, John! I wasn't trying to "preach to the choir" with this one.... I was shocked at how little the items fetched and spent much of the day kicking myself around the block for not going and bidding on a few.

OTOH, the low prices scare me... though it is happening with every other make of film camera. I notice that neither of our local camera stores will take trade-in's any more. But their cases are full of film cameras (mostly Brands N & C SLR's) and their paraphernalia, all on consignment.

From what I read in the trade press, sales of P&S digital cameras have peaked... and any further increases will be small. And the good news, is that even if film users are only 20% of new camera buyers, that small percentage should stay steady.

Until recently, however, the hard-core enthusiasts (such as ourselves) have stuck with film based SLR's. Now, with dropping prices and improving quality, apparently the pundits expect sales of dSLR's to double in '05 over '04 and double again (units) in '06 over '05. "They" say that by mid 2007, new SLR sales will have transitioned to digital, much as the P&S cameras have, now.

I'm not actually sure I'm comfortable with this trend... but then, the world didn't ask!
