Hey guys,
Thanks for the notes. "Invest" was not the proper
word. I simply meant "buy and use".
Ideally I'd like to try out several versions of the
same lens before buying one. That's how I noticed the
impact of coating change in Minolta lens over the
years. Leica lenses are quite a bit more expensive. I
can't do the same as did with Minolta's.
Ref the note on the expensiveness of Leica, I have
heard various opinions. But look around in any
community, people spend large sums of money on
whatever they think are worth it. To me, a used
13-inch TV is perfectly fine but a picture that looks
different than what I had envisioned is not. The R4
and 50mm Summicron produced the result I had in mind.
For that alone, I'm happy with the price paid.
Down the road, I'll probably get a manual focus Leica
body too.
Again, thanks everyone.
Richard
