There might be problems with the shims between the cam and the inner
aperture ring (the ring the cams are attached to). Getting the correct
shim is mostly a matter of trial-and error. On a 2-cam lens, the cams
themselves are identical. On a 3-cam lens the second cam has a cut-out to
fit around the base of the 3rd cam. If you are handy with tools the
cut-out is easy to replicate so with this modification a first cam can be
used as a second cam on a 3-cam or 2+3-cam lens. If you don't want to
canibalize your 28mm lens, Don Goldberg has the second cam on hand for much
less $ than the quoted conversion cost, but you'd still need the shims (I
think I have some of these).
