How does a kid that young bet BOTULISM????

Babies can get botulism from honey. I don't know but there are probably other ways, too.

Mike, infantile botulism is caused by early colonization of the baby's GI tract by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. These produce the toxin in the GI tract and the infant absorbs the toxin and becomes symptomatic. Botulism in older people usually occurs when the person ingests toxin from a food source. A wound infection caused by C. botulinum can occasionally lead to botulism too.

As Tina said, one of the sources of the organism that infants may ingest is raw (unpasteurized) honey that contains spores... but others exist, including dirt that sometimes contains the organism...

not common...
