Re: leicas

Now the dust is settling, nice to get back to cameras
I've been collecting and using Leicas now for nearly 30 years, in fact since I moved from the UK to Germany, they're
thicker on the ground here, and sometimes quite a bit cheaper..
I'm a great fan of the "heavy-metal" Leicas
I have the SL, SL2,SL2mot, SL2 (50J) R3Mot, R5 and R7 all in beautiful Black and (where appropriate) motor
or winderised.I've been trying to get hold of an R4mot electronic in perfect working order but the last 3 I tried out were unreliable
and I can't see clear to paying an arm and a leg to get them fixed.
RFs are represented by IIIG, M2,M4-2 and an M6,CL a Minolta (Leitz should have built it -very short sighted of them) CLE + Canon P and Canon 7,
Retina IB and IIc and a couple of Bessa Ls and an R. Most are used quite regularly, but I tend to favour the CLE and the IIIG
For Medium format I picked up Rollei 6006 with all the bits and pieces at a local auction, nobody else seemed to know what it was.

OT cameras :quite a few Yashica RFs (beautiful optics and excellent metering), Contax and Yashica SLRs, IMHO the Yashica 2.8/55mm Macro
lens is unbeatable.

A couple of selections of what I do with them are at

I'm a big fan of the early screwmounts. I've got 2 IIIcs, 1 IIIf, a couple of
Nicca Leica look-alikes (wonderful cameras with all the
virtues of the screwmounts, plus M Leica type loading and an advance lever),
and a Leotax F which I basically acquired because of the lenses
it came with, but liked so much that I kept. As for the M mount cameras, I
have a Leica M6 Panda and a Minolta CLE. I have to say that the
CLE is getting the most use now, and I haven't figured out whether that is
because of its feature set, or simply because it was the most
recent acquisition. Devoted as I am to Leicas, a number of these
Leica-compatible cameras make wonderful additions to the arsenal.
