I lived in Canada in the late ';60's, my Pentax S1a would last about 5
minutes at about -10 F. The M3 I bought would last a bit longer.
The shop I worked for supplied some special Leicas to a paper company, they
had to work outside all the time in the winter photographing log trucks.
Leitz Midland took all the lubricants out of the shutter so they would work
which is an old trick. The shutters were supposed to last about 1000
exposures although I didn't stay long enough to see them come back for
repair. Nice repeat business for the repair man!
