Re: canon 5D and leica R lens

Just wondering here on a Sunday morning... for a Canon 20 D owner who uses leica R glass, how sensible is it to trade up to a Canon 5D especially for leica R glass, but also for Canon glass, especially L glass?

Steve,

I have not used the 5D except to play with a friends a little. It handles quite nicely, I did not pay enough attention to the screen to see how well it would focus manually.

One thing that I noticed in files from my wedding, which was shot with a 5D, is that they have more noise than my 1DII has. I guess that is not surprising when you compare the price points, of course Canon will make the sensor better in a camera that costs that much more.

I have not used any Leica lenses on my EOS body either, but I have used a Nikon 300 2.8 via the adapter. It works rather well. However in the past few weeks I picked up a used Nikon 1DX and am loving shooting that thing in manual focus...it has a great screen for MF work and the camera meters with those old AIS lenses. Makes a great "runaround" kit. I still have several old Nikon MF lenses, and if something happens to this kit I am out WAY less that just one of my 1DII bodies costs.
