In all fairness to Mark and Steve, cycle racing is a difficult venue to
photograph. Since I am in the bicycle business, I often attend races and
have seen countless thousands of bike racing photos. It is easy for me and
others to become a bit overly critical of bike racing photos that I feel
are not perfect and fit the accepted norm. I understand where Mark is
coming from too. I also appreciate Steve's photos and understand the
difficulty in this type of photography when you don't have a prime camera
position. Keep up the good work, Steve. You'll just keep getting better at
it.

Hi Mark,
The way I look at it is that you are a 'professional' bike race
photographer and have privileges beyond the average bloke. And you have a
lot of experience in supplying race photos for money, therefore, you HAVE
to provide what the readers want to see. So experience and access to
produce salability are your forte.
Steve made some very eye catching and pleasing photographs that, for the
non-race-sale viewer, are pretty darn good. I personally could care less
about the bike wheels - I like the series of colorful helmets and
grimacing faces, in a nice curve making for a very nice composition (#2).
IMHO,
:-)

Admittedly, I was on-course and had a lot more room to work with.
