I have a 50/1.4 and 35-70/2.8 that focus fast. The 35-70/2.8 is a
"push/pull" zoom so it is not as fast as the newer AF-S lenses but is
probably one of the sharpest zooms Nikon ever made. And bonus, great macro
function!
Nikon F5, F100 or even a N90s can be had for good deals now.
