Re: autofocus?

I have been away from the list for a while as we have been moving to a new home in a new city - and I'm sure some of you understand how long that can take, especially when you get as old as mud like me. Anyway, good to be back and see all you good folks still sharing and showing your pics, etc.

I've been reading all of this discussion with great interest. Now, perhaps I'm missing something, but if I recall from some of your previous postings, Oliver, you do have a Leica wide angle lens for that M6. So, would you not be able to put together a combination of a high speed film, fast shutter speed and preset your lens to cover a reasonable distance in which the little fellow would be in focus while he moves around. Unless you are physically unable to move at a reasonable pace yourself to keep him within the preset focal distance, would that not work just fine?

Subject: OT: autofocus?

During his recent visit I attempted to photograph my grandson, age 18
months, in nearby Sutro Park. I discovered to my consternation that I could
not follow focus quickly enough with my M6/0.85 to keep up with the little
fellow; this will, of course, become more difficult with time (he'll get
faster and I'll get slower...)

I'm wondering whether anyone has experience with using a moderately priced
autofocus camera for this type of application.
