Fascinating little travelogue, Alex
Is the Barrow canalised completely, or does it actually flow ? (which
could be a problem at the locks you showed).
It certainly is the Emerald Isle this summer. (rumour has it that
Ireland is so green because most of the Irish left the country to
trample on other people's grass ;-) ). We were luckier with our summer,
it lasted a whole three weeks with only one or two sporadic showers and
loads of sun.

It's certainly been that sort of summer over here, but that did not
deter us from making a trek along the course of the River Barrow, one
of Ireland's lesser known gems.
