Walking on water

The Christian savior walked on water, something impossible for us mortal
humans. But some creatures you wouldn't think capable of it try anyway.

Some don't try to walk the water at all but just ascend gracefully. Great
blues and egrets sometimes give a hoarse croak before takeoff that's hard
to picture:

This last image was supposed to be a portrait but the heron waited 'til I
set up for the sedate full-body shot with reflection before croaking,
squatting down and uncoiling like a spring to throw himself into the air.
