Vole eruption = lots of hawks

There's a furry population explosion underway along the northern California coast. Voles, those small, short-tail rat relatives, had lots of young this summer. That means a gourmet bonanza for red-tailed hawks, white-tailed kites, northern harriers, American kestrels, and other raptors.

All images are from Bluff Top Coastal Park in Half Moon Bay, California.

P.S. There were reports of Cooper's hawks, peregrine falcons, and red-shouldered hawks at Bluff Top, but I didn't see any.
