Looks like a good time was had by all. It's good to see Ted with a camera
attached to his person. I would kill for some cool weather. Great post.

Subject: Tom & Ted's Excellent Adventure...
Rose and I had the pleasure of hosting Ted & Irene Grant and Tom &
Tuulikki Abrahamsson at our home, here in Logan Lake, for the last
four days...
Journalist, Ken Lassiter (while researching for his article in
"Photographer's Forum" magazine commented): "Since Yousef Karsh died
in 2002, Ted Grant is generally recognized as Canada's greatest
living photographer. Being compared to Karsh is one thing that Grant
is very humble about." http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Ted_1.htm
On Saturday, Rose decided to take Tuulikki for a horseback
ride... http://www.telyt.50megs.com/riders.htm
This may have been one of the most documented rides in history...
what with myself, 400 Telyt in hand, Tom with an "M" and Ted with
his patented system of 280/2.8 w/2x AND 1.4x
converters. http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Ted_3.htm
A better view of the lens can be seen here...
http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Ted_2.htm
This is what Tom thought of the entire proceedings...
http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Tom.htm
More 'gentle" shots of Tuulikki and Rose are at:
http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Tuulikki.htm and
http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Rose.htm The 400 Telyt w/2x converter
makes a remarkably good portrait lens, as you can see in Rose's shot
as well as several others in this group.
Naturally, we took them to Tunkwa Lake, where I do much of my
photography. We saw the
offspring http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Grebe.htm of an albinistic
Red Necked Grebe and his/her 'normal" mate that I had photographed
last year. Ted complained "that #@%&* grey bird won't go the way I
want!" After similar troubles with a Coot, Ted decided that he much
preferred shooting the Olympics... "at least the runners all go in
the same direction and you know where they'll be!" And, he allowed,
Doug Herr and myself were in no danger from him! :-)
The next day, we were out at the mine, when Ted showed us the proper
use of a Gitzo monopod. http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Gitzo.htm
Past the mine, in pursuit of wild horses (which we found), we came
across a Coyote.... but you have to guess what part Ted played in
this shot... http://www.telyt.50megs.com/coyote.htm :-)
Ted, like many of us, likes to "show the
flag".... http://www.telyt.50megs.com/Ted_4.htm
I don't think any of us have laughed so hard for 96 continuous hours
in a very long time.
BTW: Ted has a new web-site... http://tedgrantphoto.com/ It's well
worth a look!
David.
