This is NOT a drill...

Just around dinner time, last Wednesday evening, we were heading home, when we spotted smoke coming from an area Rose often rides in... it turned out to be a small forest fire, just 1/4 mile (0.4km) from a friend's home and just a half mile (0.8km) from our own home.

The response from the forest service was impressive ... within 20 minutes a "bird-dog", or spotter plane was on the scene, followed, within minutes, by two water bombers, a helicopter with a bucket and two helicopters bringing in a "mop-up" crew.

While watching it all, with the grandkids, I managed this shot of the Firecat, in action...

A good airshow, but just a little too close, for comfort...

Comments & Criticism welcomed, as always.

Cheers!
