Strange Leica numbers...

Gentlemen,
I've a question for you. Some Leica M and R lenses have a number engraved
onto the focusing scale (00, 16, 22, 55 and so on), after the m/ft symbol.
 
Which is the meaning of these numbers? Can you help me?
