Re: San Francisco LHSA meeting photos

Peter,

It was great to see you again at the meeting. Your photos are a delight to review. I'm especially impressed that you managed to get a good photo out of the Friday night LUG dinner. That was a pretty dark corner we were put in!

Cheers,

John

OK, gang, I've posted a gallery from the 2005 LHSA meeting in San Francisco. Many of the shots have no artistic merit whatsoever, they're just snaps of people I know. You're cordially invited to enjoy them anyway.

Here's the whole folder if you don't want to bother with the descriptions:

Mark Rabiner (in-focus) and Richard Wasserman at the LUG dinner Friday night. A very dim restaurant, 1/15 at f/1.5.

Brian Reid, the founder and genial saloonkeeper of the LUG, speaking at lunch Saturday. (Nice to finally meet you in person, Brian!)

Tom Abrahamsson doing some major transaction during lunch. Stephen Gandy can hardly contain himself.

Tom A. telling one of his many stories. Slobodan and Stephen seem skeptical. I don't know the gentleman on the left.

Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Kim Komenich (right) of the San Francisco talks to an unidentified LHSA member after the banquet. Kim gave one of the best photographic talks I've ever heard.

While we had no repeat of 1906, there was a bit of excitement nearby on Sunday morning.

From my 8th-floor hotel window. I was attracted by the "vertigo" perspective, plus the wash and the pair of sneakers drying on the roof.

Terance Dixon came all the way from the U.K. to attend. Here his saying something pithy over his pasta penne.

This is not an out-of-focus picture of Mark Rabiner. It is an in-focus picture of LHSA Viewfinder editor Bill Rosauer, yours truly, and Dick Gladden.

A group of us went walking Sunday afternoon. We met these friendly young women from one of the Carolinas, who had rented this little electric Go-Car.

This was supposed to be a street candid, but the woman on the left spotted me. The look she gave me matched the sign in the background (previously posted).

M6TTL, 35/2 Summicron and 50/1.5 Nokton, Fuji Neopan 400. All but the last three pics are low-res Noritsu scans from my favorite local lab, which does a decent job on real B&W with Xtol 1:1.
No animals were harmed, nor any flash used in the making of these photographs.

Enjoy,
