Portrait of the artist as a young bird

When you and I go to the photographer's studio for a portrait we comb our hair, clean our nails and wear our best clothes. Birds don't know they're having their portraits taken but they DO try to look their best. They start by dunking their heads to slick their hair, uh, feathers down:
