composing a little lower and to the left would have made the vendor's sign more central and legible and minimized the booth's awning roof.

I do have a better shot-- but it does not show the gal's face at all. And bending down it still difficult due to the hip operation.

The white background walls and subject's white clothing in the alternate leave my eye to wander without an immediate subject.

I agree-- I just do not know what to do about that! I suspect a better choice of film might help-- I think this VC is a bit too eager to capture extremes of light as well as vivid color.
