Why pic on Hermes - would there be a Leica to day if not for Hermes ?
I dont like the price, but the MP in the tan leather Hermes edition is
perhaps the most simple and beatifull Leica ever- IMHO
Just imagine how it will look after years of use - the leather changing
colour etc. beautiful patina.
When judging any one working within a craft look aat the persons tools
Are the well keept, is it the tools of the persons grandfather or are they
abused or are they all electrical tools.
I have a beautifull book on Japaneese cabinet makers - they start every
morning excamining and sharpening their tools - they make wonderfull
cabinets
On the other hand so does this guy I know around the corner and his uses
electrical machines
I do not find Hermes snobbish - perhaps if it was Louis Vuitton spreading
small LV all over the camera
If you do not whant to pay for Leica a la carte visit cameraleather.com - I
lover their calfscin crocodile embossed version of a M3
The more M mount systems the better chance of survival - the worst thing
that leica does is the make their stuff so good that when you buy a
summicron you do not need a new for the next 20-30 years.

ZEISS : The Zeiss Ikon is very real, as are the lenses and all are
beautifully finished, the aux. finders look a little delicate.
A beautifully simple clean design and feels qualitively superb, the back
door of the prototype I handled seemed to be a little weak,
but I didn't get the chance to look at it in detail, so many others were
wanting to play.
The PRICE : Very probably between 1500 and 1800 euros, this may be
revised closer to the release date, no price info on lenses
available as yet. The Zeiss people are all VERY excited about the Ikon.
Auxiliary finders??? What does the real VF show for frame lineLEICA : The
a la carte leicas are a wonderful way of ruining a perfect camera - Leica
says that all the finishes offered are as a result
of customer demands/enquiries, they pull out what looks like a
furnishing catalogue with leather samples and metal finishes and
away you go.
What do you expect, now that Hermes group of luxo/snob gear owns the
company? I'm, surprised they were not pushing Hermes leather camera
bags...
