What do you expect, now that Hermes group of luxo/snob gear owns the
company? I'm, surprised they were not pushing Hermes leather camera bags...

People forget that these a La Carte Leicas are intended for the
non-photographer market. The folks that order a Leica matching their car,
or for the wife matching her favorite outfit, or order the special
anniversary, or other very low volume high priced Leicas. These Leicas are
PURE PROFIT. They cost but a minuscule amount more to make but the selling
price is monumental. AND... these Leicas never come back to the shop for
warranty work because they are never used. If they are used, it's probably
one roll a year. The collector of the "Special" Leicas don't even open the box.
So... I am very happy that Leica makes cameras in alligator and hammertone,
in the flags of countries, with jewels for Brunei, etc. This stuff keeps
Leica alive. Lots and lots and lots of pure profit!
