Re: Photographic primers?

I think that one of the best all around books on using a camera is Bryan Peterson's 'Understanding Exposure'.

Which is the updated version (includes digital) of the one that I have.

I have http://tinyurl.com/2vxdal which I have always thought to be a very clear concise book on the mechanics of photography.

Bryan Peterson's books have always been exemplary.

IMHO,

Have a friend who is a railroad buff and does photographic shows of stuff

the very things he needs to know when the weather turns on him and the

I haven't looked at the kind of literature he needs for many years, so I
wonder if you guys know of good basic primers he could use to begin learning
about the things that he wants to know, starting from ground zero.

The knowledge that we took as intuitive for the operation of our ancient

the right coast, so I can't get to him easily to help him along.

Thanks,
