PAW: "Never eat anything bigger than your head!"

Cartoonist Kliban once admonished, "Never eat anything bigger than your head!" Some birds consistently swallow whole things to which my mother would have said, "That's too big a bite!"

When there aren't any exciting birds to photograph I find guys I can always watch. A pair of ring-billed gulls looked very chummy, and I was happy I wore a Leica with 90mm APO-Summicron when they walked close:

They walked away to alternately bob in the water and hang out:

Gulls dive into Shoreline Lake for small clams. Sometimes they wash the mud off before they eat:
