If you read this before you leave Colorado Springs, drive up to Rampart Reservoir behind town. It's a really pretty forested spot, and a trail goes around the entire reservoir. I mountain-biked it once many years ago.

And take a little time at Garden of the Gods. The red rock crags would be worth an early morning for nice light.
