Hi Graham,
Do you have a wild guess how many churches there are in the area where you
shoot these beautiful old locations and grave yards?

I know many of them have been around for several hundreds of years longer than
Europeans invaded North America. J Some years ago I
started a series on grave markers / stones particularly the markings as some
were quite fascinating.

One I re-call. "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED I'D RATHER BE IN OXFORD MILLS." with a
year 1890. But many of the stones you post it appears
much of the wording almost weathered away.

But they're always fascinating every time I open a post.

Hi Ted,

There must be hundreds of churches in Northamptonshire most of seem to be built in the 14thC, a few earlier in the 12th &13thC and one at Brixworth built in the year 680 :

Many headstones dating from the 1850's are still legible but time is taking its toll. Some headstones are made of what looks to me to be slate and they last much longer. I have seen slate headstones virtually unmarked by time from the mid 1700's.

I found this inscription particularly moving:

Thanks for looking.
