Nathan's PAW 30: A walk in Lisbon

This is a real PAW--the film was exposed, processed, and scanned this week. As I have mentioned, I had to go to Portugal on Tuesday morning to attend the funeral of a colleague who had been killed in an accident at the weekend. The funeral was Tuesday afternoon and I took no pictures there. But my flight back to Amsterdam was at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, so I had the morning free to walk around Lisbon a bit. I took the metro to the neighborhood called Baixa and spent 3 hours walking around. The four images are all from that walk. They are a bit touristy, but OK--that's what I was doing, being a tourist.

Here is a classic Lisbon image. The old streetcars are kept in service partly because their small size fits some of the streets in the old part of the city, and partly because they are a tourist attraction in their own right:

Everybody in Iberia has a mobile phone and spends much of their time talking on it or otherwise fiddling with it:

One of Lisbon's main squares is Praca de Comercio. It is huge and is probably one of the most photographed places in Portugal:

The last alternate is also from the Praca de Comercio. The buildings surrounding the square are mostly various government ministries:
