I just returned from Dr. Cassani, the woman surgeon that repaired my hernia
last month. During my first visit after the surgery, I loaned her Ted &
Sandy's "Women in Medicine" book. She's had it for three weeks.
Besides getting a clean hernia bill of health, Dr. Cassani raved about Ted
& Sandy's book. She said that the photographers were obviously masters of
their trade as well as being able to become invisible while photographing
under very demanding circumstances thus making the subjects completely at
ease. I said that they indeed were masters of their trade and that I was so
very lucky to be friends with them. She also said that she was absolutely
amazed at clarity, expressions, and lighting. That every photograph caught
the precise moment to depict exactly what was going on. And that the
photographs being in B&W made it even more stunning in that you can focus
on exactly what is happening without distractions. She said that it has
been a long time since she has even thought about B&W photography and that
this gave her a renewed appreciation for the medium.
Again, way-to-go Ted and Sandy!!! A stunning tribute to Women in Medicine,
through a stunning book.
Jim
