Metz Flash Question

Hi!

I have a chance to steal (well, buy at a really, really low price) a METZ 40MZ-2 flash with SCA351M adapter.

I understand that this is the adapter for the R7, but I wish to use the camera on the R8.

Some references say the only difference is the 3501's ability to work with the high speed sync - which is of little interest to me.

Can anyone here tell me if the 40MZ-2/SCA351m will work with the R8? Any limitations on operation compared to the 3501?

And, lastly, does anybody know where I can find a downloadable instruction book for the 40MZ-2?
