I agree - a lower vantage point would have worked better. I don't feel engaged with the young subject since I'm looking down at her. The different picture elements are more widely separated than I like - but I'm usually using telephotos for sports and wildlife. So I'm used to seeing that way, tightly composed.

You may find knee pads from Body Glove a good thing to wear - been using 'em for years on mountain bike race shoots.
