Macro work - the hard way!

Yesterday, I showed my cowbird photo - for which I got some nice
comments, off list.
Whilst I was waiting for one of the cowbirds to move to a branch
where I could get a clean shot, I noticed this little critter land on
a pussy-willow. The light was right and he (she?) was just at the
minimum focusing range of the 400 Telyt & 2x converter.
So close, in fact, that I racked the lens to it's closest focus and
then rocked the camera, in proper fashion, to focus on the beast.

My problem is I'm so illiterate when it comes to bugs, I don't know
if it's a moth or a butterfly, let alone what kind!
All help, comments and, yes, criticism appreciated.
Thanks for looking.
