The fact it was the Noctilux and the 1.3 comparison produced a 76mm? or what the hell it was didn't matter... I just framed with the view finder .... click! >>

Michael read my lips.....

It was exactly what was within the frame lines of the viewfinder.... Thank you

As someone who tends to use everything right to the edges and who does most of my photography when I "am there" and often in never-to- be-there-again situations it is important to me to know that what i see is at least CLOSE to what I'll get.<<<<

Well Michael if your shooting that tight I trust your using an SLR. Oh and by the way your comment:

who does most of my photography when I "am there" and often in never- to- be-there-again situations <<<

Why Michael yer not alone old buddy because most folks on this list shoot in that fashion. As all my assignments have been like that for over a half century working as a professional.;-)

Yeah I can re-shoot something if i see right away that the capture was not what i wanted, provided this was not a once in a lifetime expression or action.<<<

Well when you shoot film and it was a "once in a lifetime event" how did you know you had the film frame absolutely full and the perfect expression until you souped film?

Say I am at a polo match pr hockey game and shoot with my 50 on the camra -- will I have recorded what the frame lines said i saw? or will I have so ethi ng else perhaps a nazrrower field of view. They ain'tgoing to go back and replay the shot on goal for me....<<<

I'm sorry if your shooting sports of this nature with an M camera I truly believe you are living very dangerously! Particularly "Polo!" And yes I've shot lots of polo matches as we have a semi-pro club here and I've done many a shoot! Never with an M! Lenses are way too short. Unless you happen to be on horse back!;-)

And yes if you were successful with a film M you'll be equally successful using the M8, "what you see .... in the viewfinder lines is what you get on the card!".....

And i am not enamored of Numbers or special focal lengths or even particular lenses, but I'd like to use what I have with the knowledge that I won't be cutting off stuff when it is critical.<,

Wait until you have an M8 in your hands and you'll see for yourself.
