Another thought, is that the group has often pointed out obvious
Leica fakes (obvious to the group anyway). Was the M6 ever copied
by non-Leica makers? I certainly would not be able to spot a fake
at this point unless it was very obvious.
Only the Barnack leica screwmounts were copied. Many, many from
British, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, and other companies.
None of the M series were copied in large quantities although there
was one Chinese camera that people say was supposed to be a M camera,
but I don't see the family resemblance.
So you can buy M cameras safely.
