Re: Leica "As-Is" *bay sale

Ay-yup.  That was my great-uncle's camera.  He got it right after the 
war, y'know, and carried it all up and down the Far East...  He was 
part of the OSS during the war, of course, and nobody knows what 
happened there; he never would talk about it.  Never could keep a job 
afterward, but he always had money.  He said it was his GI pension 
but y'know he wasn't really in that long and they didn't pay all THAT 
well, either.  

But it was strange.  He kept disappearing, and popping up again weeks 
or months later with all these really bad boring pictures of ships 
and harbors and stuff all over the far east.  Wouldn't talk about 
it...

And one day the postman brought us this box all taped and tied, 
covered with stamps from Hong Kong, with just that camera, the zippo 
that he got in Shanghai, and what was left of his passport in it, all 
burned to hell and back like he'd been in a fire or something.

So I dunno what really happened, of course, but... just strange.
