If you are referring to the lens not having a serial number, take a magnifying glass and look closely at the ring around the front lens element.


As I've already observed, well done Greg for pointing this out. It really is so easy to miss.


But is it really the s/n rather than a part number? The only reason I ask is that I read somewhere that when Leitz started putting s/ns on Elmars, they commenced rather arbitrarily around 80000 to 90000.

OTOH Chris Williams kindly dated the lens to the early 1930s from his sources, so presumably what I read is wrong.
