Hi Carl,
Here's the answer I just sent to Michael Levy in regard to the situation.

No there wasn't an inner circle simply because the seminar was over, closed, 
finito two years ago. The people who organized it in conjunction with Leica
USA for many many years were hounded to do just one more. It became this
year and me once again the "instructor." ;-) As I had been for the
previous12 years before 2003.


So with a past attendee list of several hundred dedicated folks they
were called directly until space was filled. The number of people who
could attend is limited by "accommodation and lecture space" in Rockport.
Certainly not very big. Not like the good old days of 80 to a 100 attendees
on Cape Cod and Kennebunkport.


This will be much like a small Leica family gathering of I believe 40?
bodies.

So it wasn't practical to throw it open for public awareness when there were
so many ex=pat Leica Seminar members salivating for ....." just one more
time!"<<<<<<<<<<

Hopefully Carl this explains the factors. And yes it's certainly too bad when you could've stayed at your folks home. But we're even limited to space for presentations. I can only say I'm glad I'm never involved in putting these events together.
