I was about 2 feet away using the Pentax 28mm F lens<<<<

Sonny you've got more guts than I! :-) If were to shoot this I'd probably use a 280m or 400mm with an extender lying on my belly much father away than you.

However if we as photogs don't take chances sometimes we'd never get the pictures that make people gasp when looking at our photography.

I like this very much because of how close you are and the action of the bees around the can.
